Why would I need to see a Speech Pathologist for my child’s feeding?
Whilst babies and children have typical developmental skills and milestones, the rate at which they do so varies and this is completely normal however, sometimes our little ones may present with signs that they need a little more support.
Signs that may indicate need for support:
- Consistent gagging, coughing, choking +/- vomiting with breast, bottle or solids
- Wet and noisy breathing with feeds
- Extreme distress around mealtimes (food or fluid refusal)
- Not gaining weight appropriately (we address the feeding skills and our Dietitian supports growth)
- Feeding and mealtimes impacting family quality of life
Trust your instincts. If you’re worried, it’s worth having a conversation with a health professional to support your babies feeding journey. We are here to help!
